Alternative Health Programs in America

Today students can pursue a vast variety of educational courses, including alternative health programs in an array of healing arts. In addition to certificate and diploma courses, a growing number of alternative health programs may offer students the ability to earn a degree or diplomat status.

Some typical alternative health programs that provide certificates and/or diplomas to graduates are courses in massage therapy, reflexology, holistic health, natural health, energy healing, and herbal medicine, among others. These healing arts courses generally range in length and studies, but may be completed in less than one year.

For example, to achieve certification in massage therapy, you can expect to graduate from a typical course in about nine months. Depending on the State in which you reside, and in accordance with board requirements, you may be able to fulfill training requirements in as little as 300 hours. Word to the wise – many massage schools have begun mandating classes to meet National certification standards, which is a minimum of 500 training hours.

There are some alternative health programs that are designed for animal lovers. If you like working with dogs or horses, there are a number of natural health courses in acupressure and other massage therapies like sports massage that are specifically geared toward animal healthcare. Just like their human counterparts, dogs and horses suffer from a wide assortment of musculoskeletal disorders that can be relieved naturally through basic bodywork techniques.

Alternative health programs that offer degrees are generally longer than diploma or certificate courses. Degree programs are frequently offered through acupuncture, chiropractic, naturopathy, or homeopathic schools. Though each discipline varies in curriculum, these alternative health programs promise rigorous education and training; and usually require prerequisite education from an accredited school or university.

If you (or someone you know) are interested in learning more about these or other alternative health training options, let professional training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore alternative health programs near you.

Costumes for horses ideas…?

What are some costume ideas for horses? We are having a parade at our fundraiser for our horse rescue and therapy program (www.gracerescue.org) and we need some themes for each of our horses. Thank you! =D

If you have a black horse- a Bumble bee. If somebody is leading the horse, have them dress as a flower.
Ive seen people attach kids fairy wings to a bareback pad or a saddle to be a fairy- Im not sure just how but that could be a number of different things.

A horse as the broom with the rider as Harry Potter or another character from the series could be really funny. Or make them a hippogriff with the wings from above.

Ive heard of finger painting a horse with alot of different colors- zebra print, polka dots, or my favorite is taking a four or five year old and painting their feet and then picking them up so they can put footprints all over the horse.

I think Pippy Longstocking had a horse…

You can use a cooler and make one a couch- it has to fit the horses personality to be funny.

I dont know how you would do it, but if the horse was a spaceship and the rider/leader was an astronaut that would be cute.

Once again not exactly a costume but painting the skeleton of a horse on it, and then if you have a chance to explain it it is really fun and gives something entertaining for kids.

A sorrel horse as a rooster, with their forelock teased, cardboard or covered up kids fairy wings, and if you have an arab that carries its tail high- with the leader/rider as an alarm clock.

A unicorn is really simple with a bridle on because you can just attach a horn to the browband.

One could be a cow lol. I find it funny to dress animals up as other animals. The rider could be a farmer for this.

Horses dressed up as people is great too. Flymasks with faces painted on, clothes of some sort, and bell boots painted like shoes. And then dress the person as a horse.

You could make a horse a flag and the rider an Uncle Sam.

The horse could be a firetruck, while the person is a fireman.

The horse as a ship and the person as a pirate.

The horse as the mystery machine and the person as one of the Scooby Doo characters.

A super hero and its sidekick.

I cant necessarily think about how you would do most of these or if they would be economical to create for a fundraiser but I hope you can use some of them. Good luck with raising money.
